Founded in 1906 by American Native and ex-opera singer Wilbur Gunn. Lagonda launched its first car in 1907, The Torpedo, with reasonable success, generating large export orders to Russia.
The company produced artillery shells during WWI and flame throwers for WWII. The company was sold in 1947 to David Brown, who then merged it with his newly purchased Aston Martin LTD resulting in Aston Martin Lagonda LTD. The brand was revived by Aston Martin in 2008.
