New Forged Stub Axles For GRP4 MK1 Ford Escort Rally Cars
The Ford Escort Mk1 is a highly recognised and iconic car in the world of classics. Launched in 1968, initially as a small and practical family saloon car, it immediately saw success in motorsport by dominating the rally scene throughout the 70s and 80s.
Our client who specialises in the restoration of heritage rally vehicles approached us to produce new forged stub axles for GRP4 adaptations of the Ford Escort Mk1. With continued use in heritage motorsport, stub axles are subject to extreme forces such as impact, stress, and fatigue damage, and ultimately replacements are required. WHT was able to supply a far superior forging, with greater strength and added longevity as a result.
A relatively small batch of 250 pieces was produced of each LH and RH stub axle, a speciality of W.H. Tildesley.
