Archive Drawings from 1941 to 1941
Westland Aircraft LTD was spun off from the already established engine maker Petters Limited, as an entity to fulfil Air Ministry contracts during the First World War. Post-war, the firm would get out of the fixed-wing aircraft market to focus solely on helicopters, this proved to be unsuccessful, with none of the models chosen to go into production.
The company was forced to Merge into the nationalised BAC in 1959, along with most of the British aviation industry.
