The De Havilland Aircraft Company was a pioneering aircraft design and manufacturing company based out of the Stag Lane Aerodrome in Edgware, North London. Founded by Geoffrey De Havilland and and backed by George Holt Thomas, founder of Airco, Geoffrey's previous employer.
The company focused on the emerging commercial and private aircraft markets and produced iconic planes such as the Dragon and Dragon Riptide in the inter-war years. Post WWII, they became locked in a fight for the Trans-Atlantic aircraft market; a fight it ultimately lost to Boeing, merging with Hawker Siddeley in 1963, at which time the brand became defunct.
