The Skefko Ball Bearing Company (SKF) was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1907. With a UK office being set up in 1910 along with the construction of a Luton factory. From production commencing and the start of WWI, the Luton site would grow the factory and capacity from 180 completed bearings a day to over 4000. The company would be made public in 1936 and expand their works again. The company would be the largest bearing supplier during WWII and the only British firm to supply all 4 main bearing types. The company is still trading in the UK to this day.
