Nuffield Mechanizations & Aero Ltd
Military
Archive Drawings from 1930 to 1942
Founded by William Morris (Lord Nuffield) out of the remnants of the bankrupt Wolseley Motors; Morris paid for the entity in full with his own money. While most of the business became part of Morris Motors, the aero engine division remained Lord Nuffield's property and became Nuffield Mechanisations. The company was tasked with updating the mechanisation of the British armed forces at the personal request of then Prime Minster, Stanley Baldwin. Resulting in the Wolseley Plant being used to produce tanks and facilitate research and development.
