J.E Shay was incorporated in 1937, from the remnants of the UK office of Lansing Co of Michigan, which ceased trading in 1930. The company acquired 'Power Specialities LTD' in 1952 and continued manufacturing their 'Rotosythe' mowers until 1960. When J.E. Shay was taken over by Wolseley Engineering.
