Dayton Cycle Company
Bicycles
Archive Drawings from 1949 to 1949
Founded by Charles Day in 1908, Dayton Cycle Co was a manufacturer of both Bicycles and Motorcycles based in Shoreditch, London & later Park Royal Works, North Acton. The firm produced various models of Roadster Bicycles and lightweight bicycles from Reynolds Tube Co.
Like many bicycle makers of the time, Dayton also had forays into motorcycle production as early as 1913, with an agreement with Villiers to provide engines in 1920 increasing Dayton's capacity to produce motorcycles. The company would return focus to bicycles post WWII until 1955 when an ill-fated attempt at entering the scooter market damaged the company's standing and financials. Ultimately leading to the company ceasing production in 1960.
