New Forged Front Spar Plugs For The Hawker Tempest

The Hawker Tempest is a British-made fighter aircraft that first saw use by the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. Originally developed as the Mk2 version of the earlier Hawker Typhoon, it was decided to name it Tempest as it had deviated too far away from the original design.

It is said that 1702 were produced before it was retired in 1953. The Tempest was one of the most powerful fighters of World War II, alongside the legendary Supermarine Spitfire.

We were approached by our client who is a specialist in heritage aircraft restoration, to produce new forged spar plug blanks, for the Hawker Tempest. By utilising modern materials and processes, WHT was able to create a far superior version of the original.

A small batch of 10 pieces was produced, and as low-volume runs are speciality of W.H.Tildlesley we were happy to accommodate.

Our client who has invested in a set of forging dies for this part has exclusive use.
