The Aston Martin DBR2 is a specialist sports racing car built in 1957 and is said to have been created from a short-lived Lagonda development project known as DP166. Designed for competition use, the DBR2 saw its first entry into the 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans where it retired early due to carburation performance issues. Following an engine upgrade in 1958, the DBR2 saw success winning both the Sussex Trophy at Goodwood and the British Empire Trophy at Oulton Park.

We were approached by our client, an Aston Martin expert and specialist restorer, to produce drop-forged stub axles for the DBR2. Given the age, limited production, and racing pedigree of the vehicle, the existing stub axles were always found to be in poor condition and required replacement. By applying more modern manufacturing processes, such as grain flow simulation, WHT was able to produce a far superior forged replacement.

Relatively small batches of 10 pieces were produced, and as low-volume runs are speciality of W.H.Tildesley we were happy to accommodate.

Our client who has invested in 2 sets of forging dies, for left-hand and right-hand variants, has exclusive use.
